Statement from County Executive McCoy on Final Budget Agreement

April 01, 2019

As President of the County Executives Association of NYSAC, it is our responsibility to stand with local leaders to elevate the voices of property taxpayers and businesses to ensure we continue to make New York a more affordable place to live and raise a family, while enacting sensible progressive reforms and moving New York forward.

Despite facing a daunting $2.3 billion deficit from the start of this process, I’m encouraged to see that our voices were heard. I congratulate the Governor and the Legislature for working together to make difficult choices and find compromise on a spending plan that includes a permanent property tax cap, an increase in education aid, funding for Early Voting, clean water infrastructure, 2020 Census outreach and criminal justice reform. Their leadership on these issues will continue to move our state forward as a great place to live, raise a family and do business.
