Statement from County Executive McCoy on the 2019 State of the State & Budget Address

January 15, 2019

New Yorkers deserve government that is accountable, serves to improve their daily lives and puts them back to work. Today Governor Cuomo laid out a bold vision in this year’s State of the State and Budget Address that will keep this state moving forward and I commend him for his efforts.

This year’s budget rightfully prioritizes infrastructure funding that is critical to economic development and makes our roads, bridges and airports safe for travel each day, all while creating well-paying jobs. Continuing efforts to repeal the federal $10,000 cap on SALT deductions while cutting middleclass tax rates will help to ensure our hardworking residents are not unfairly burdened and make the Capital Region a more affordable place to live, work and raise a family.

The Governor’s proposals for social justice reform and a greener environment will make New York a progressive beacon of hope and social justice and will protect our environment for generations.
