Shopping Locally Reaps Local Rewards

Posted: Monday, December 11, 2017 12:23 PM

County Executive Daniel P. McCoy and the Albany County Legislature today announced they are joining forces to promote our local businesses. County Executive McCoy launched a campaign in 2013 that has had 5 successful events promoting local businesses under the “Live Life Local/Albany County Cares about our businesses” campaign. The most recent event was October at Crossgates Mall. Spending money in Albany County helps make our businesses stronger and keeps revenue flowing here.

“This really goes to show that, not only does Albany County Care about our businesses, but Albany County Cares about our communities,” said Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy. “By shopping at a local mall or a “mom and pop” store, it benefits our county in the long run. This is so important that we are taking it a step further expanding the campaign with stickers and posters at local stores to raise awareness. Shop local; Shop Albany County.”

The Shop Local Shop Albany County Poster and sticker was unveiled at the press conference.

“The coalition we’re building with retailers will help us promote the outstanding stores we have throughout Albany County and the many benefits of shopping local,” said Majority Leader Frank Commisso Sr. “There’s no downside to shopping local. Money spent in Albany County helps local business owners and workers, and the sales tax revenue it generates helps pay for government services.”

Shop local this season and support Albany County. Happy shopping!
