Mark Grimm was elected to the Albany County Legislature in November 2015 and began his four-year term on January 1, 2016. The 29th District represents residents and businesses in the Carman Road/Western Avenue area of Guilderland.
Mark founded Mark Grimm Communications in 2002. As a sole proprietor, he conducts training seminars for businesses, governments and nonprofit associations and provides
one-on-one coaching in public speaking and media relations. Mark also hosts the Siena Alumni Connection radio show on FM 88.3 The Saint. He was named Entrepreneur of the Year by the Guilderland Chamber of Commerce and Trainer of the Year by the Hudson-Mohawk chapter of the Association for Talent Development. Mark spent 12 years as a TV news anchor/reporter in six markets and conducted one-on-one interviews with Presidents Bush and Clinton.
Mark served on the Guilderland Town Board from 2008-2011. He was also an adjunct media professor at St. Rose or Siena for 11 years.
Mark is the past president of the Stevens Farm Homeowners Association, was the volunteer Master of Ceremonies for the first ever Stakeholders’ GOBY awards and was a founding committee member for Operation Welcome Home, established during the 1991 Persian Gulf War to help provide a successful homecoming experience for returning vets.
Mark is a Magna Cum Laude Siena College graduate where he was named the Conlin Scholar, the top English major award. He received his master’s degree in Public Communications from the prestigious Newhouse School at Syracuse University.
Mark, his wife Karen, and young daughter live in the Fort Hunter area of Guilderland. Mark is one of nine children.
