Honor A Veteran
Erwin W. Andrews, US Marine Corps
1930-2011
The Honor-A-Veteran Committee commemorated the life of Erwin W. Andrews at a ceremony held December 3, 2012.
Erwin W. Andrews was born in Syracuse, New York on October 30, 1930. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1951 and became a Sergeant. Erwin was honorably discharged in 1953.
Erwin, also known as Andy, returned home where he met and married Eva, his wife of 56 years. They had three children. For several years, Andy was the owner of Midway Heating Service. He then became publication officer for the New York Army National Guard in Albany until he retired in 1994.
Andy was a member of the Midway Fire Department, Westmere Fire Department and Colonie Elks 2192. He was also the past commandant of the Capt. Wm. Dale O'Brien Marine Corps League in Albany and a member of the Men's Auxiliary of the VFW Post 8692.
The Honor-A-Veteran ceremony is held the first Monday of every month to honor a deceased veteran of the community
