Donald W. Rahm has been an Albany County Legislator since 2008, representing residents of the 9th Legislative District and since the 2010 re-districting, he represents the 8th Legislative District.

Don has served as Business Manager and Financial Secretary for the 1,400-member International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 236 since 2003. In that capacity, he oversees day-to-day operation of union business, serves as a Trustee for all funds, sits on all committees concerning union business and is a Trustee on the union's Apprenticeship Committee and Funds Committee. Don has been a member of the electrical workers union since 1976, attaining journeyman status after serving a four-year apprenticeship. He previously was elected to five three-year terms as Chairman of the Executive Board and President of the Local Union, serving in that capacity until a merger of area locals in 1999, then served the new local as Membership Development Coordinator and Assistant Business Manager until his election as Business Manager.

An Albany native, Don was graduated from Vincentian Institute and attended Hudson Valley Community College, studying electrical technology and electrical construction and maintenance. A Vietnam era veteran, Don served in the United States Navy from 1969-1975, with three and one-half years aboard the aircraft carrier CVA USS John F. Kennedy and the remaining two years in the Naval Reserve.

Donald has actively participated in community affairs for a number of years. He has coached baseball at National Little League and Central Babe Ruth and has been an active participant of the Police Athletic League. He has been a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians for more than 30 years.

Don and his wife, Linda Femia-Rahm, are the parents of two sons, Michael and Patrick.
