Runaway and Homeless Youth Programs

Albany County Youth Bureau - Runaway and Homeless Youth Act (RHYA)

County Runaway and Homeless Youth Services Coordinator, assesses, coordinates, monitors, evaluates and networks, all resources required to meet the needs of Albany County runaway and homeless youth and compiles information that is incorporated into the County Comprehensive Youth Service Plan.

Equinox, Inc. - Emergency Shelter Project

Program provides 24 hour a day, seven days a week, crisis intervention services to runaway and homeless youth ages 13-17 from Albany County, through a 13 bed, emergency shelter residence, and a 24 hour a day, crisis telephone hotline.

Equinox, Inc. - Independent Living Program

Intensive counseling, case management, advocacy services and independent living apartments for homeless youth, ages 16-20. Project will develop the skills of the youth to enable them to live on their own and to successfully integrate these youth into the community. Agency currently has two, two-bedroom apartments available. Arbor House Transitional Independent Living Program has closed as of 11/30/00, and funding has been transferred to Equinox, which will provide program services to several of the young girls who were housed at Arbor House.
