ACDSS Medical Director

The Albany County Department of Social Services is seeking to enter a contract with a Physician to assume the responsibilities of Medical Director.  The Medical Director will work with the DSS Adult Services Division and Medicaid Division, in accordance with current Federal and State regulations.  This is a part-time contractual relationship.

Minimum Qualifications:
§         Graduation from an accredited school of medicine and three (3) years of general medical experience;

§         License to practice medicine issued by the NYS Department of Education; and

§         Possession of American Medical Directors Certification.

Responsibilities:
§         Medical consent for guardianship cases

§         Review and approve/disapprove recommendations for 24/7 personal home care

§         Conduct disability evaluations in accordance with the Social Security Administration

Preferred Qualifications:
§         Experience working with individuals in need of long-term care and personal home care services;

§         Experience with disability evaluations;

§         Board Certification in Geriatrics;

§         Deep understanding of long-term care system;

§         Working knowledge of guardianships and the laws pertaining to such and must be available for consultation 24 hours a day 7 days a week to approve medical procedures for patients for whom Albany County has been designated as guardian.
