Albany County DPW Crews Ready If/When Sandy Hits

OCTOBER 27–As Hurricane Sandy continues to make its way along the coast, Albany County Department of Works crews are prepared should severe weather hit. Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy has directed that all personnel be on standby to respond immediately if and when the storm hits.

"All County employees at each sub division have prepared and will continue prepping equipment for Sandy," said McCoy. "Each sub division has a loader and plow units ready for operations. We have used this equipment in the past for debris removal. Additionally, we are moving other equipment to Knox and Rensselaerville, which represent the two ends of the County in the Hill Towns. That equipment will be used to work with their sister subdivisions Berne and Westerlo. Other equipment is on standby in our New Scotland Division for transport. We have also prepared small equipment which consists of chain saws, pumps, generators, barrel and barricades for deployment."

County employees and foremen are on standby and ready for Sandy. Albany County Department of Public Works will reach out individually to each of our 19 munipalities on Monday as the path of the storm becomes clearer to make sure our combined efforts are covering their needs throughout the duration of the storm.
