The Albany County Probation Department is currently seeking volunteers for their Juvenile Community Accountability Board(JCAB) Program. Expanding to the Bethlehem, Guilderland and Watervliet areas. JCAB is a program at the Albany County Probation Department and is an alternative to Family Court action that helps juveniles understand the impact crime has on the community and allows them an opportunity to repair the harm that was caused. Volunteers meet with the juvenile and their parent to develop an agreement that will require the juvenile to complete specific activities designed to repair the harm caused.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and live, work or have a vested interest in the community and are required to attend a one-day training. Those interested in volunteering can obtain a volunteer application on the probation department website or by contacting Lisa Mahar at 487-5856 or by e-mail at Lisa.mahar@albanycounty.com. All completed applications should be returned to Lisa Mahar at the Albany County Probation Department via mail: 60 S. Pearl Street ,Albany, NY 12207, fax: 487-5204 or sent electronically by e-mail.
