Agricultural District Review and Application Process

A comprehensive review of each of the County’s Agricultural Districts is conducted on an 8-year basis. During these reviews, parcels may be proposed to be added or removed from the district. In addition to the 8-year comprehensive review of each District, the Agricultural Districts Law provides an annual 30-day period where farmers can request the inclusion of viable farmland within a certified Agricultural District. The 30-day period established by the Albany County Legislature begins on February 1 of every year. Landowners interested in adding a parcel to one of the County’s Agricultural Districts must complete an Agricultural District Review Worksheet [PDF*] and return it to:

Albany County Office of Natural Resource Conservation
Attn: Laura DeGaetano
112 State St. Room 720
Albany, NY 12208

Or call Laura DeGaetano at (518) 447-5670 for more information.

Additions to the Agricultural Districts will be considered during the 30-day annual review period. Both additions and deletions from the districts will be considered during the 8-year scheduled individual district reviews.
