County Executive McCoy Issues 9/11 Anniversary Message
September 11, 2013
As September 11th dawns, Albany County marks the National Day of Service and Remembrance in honor of the brave Americans who perished at the World Trade Center, at the Pentagon and in Pennsylvania.
The 12th anniversary of the terrible tragedy of that day provides us with the opportunity to honor those who perished. Their loved ones are not alone in their grief, as our nation will always bear the impact of that day in our hearts.
Here in the State Capital city of Albany, September 11th is a poignant day with powerful memories. On that we day, we witnessed the forces of evil and tyranny. What we must remember the most is the generosity of spirit, the courage and fortitude of those first responders who gave their lives in order to help others. Their strength and bravery serves as a reminder to us all that there are those willing to give their lives for their fellow man. We’ll never forget those who were suddenly taken from us on that awful day.
As we gather for memorial services and events today, I ask that we take a moment to offer our deep gratitude to the men and women in our Armed Forces who fight bravely to keep America safe. We thank them for their service, courage and sacrifice.
