Albany County Executive McCoy to Honor Local NABA Boxing Champion Amir Imam

2/26/2014 4:41:24 PM

Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy will host a media session with local boxer and Albany High school graduate Amir Imam, who won his last fight on February 21 when he knocked out opponent Jared Robinson in the fourth round. The bout was nationally televised by Showtime and was Robinson’s first loss. Imam is the current US North American Boxing Association title holder in the Super Lightweight division.

Imam, 23, is a 2009 Albany High School graduate and is spending a few days in Albany before returning to Miami to train for his next fight. Imam has a 13-0 record with 12 wins by knockout. Following his performance in the 2012 Olympic trials, he signed with the legendary promoter Don King, who staged Friday’s card in Cleveland.

County Executive McCoy will hold the photo opportunity on Thursday, February 27, at 3 p.m. in his office in Room 900 of the Harold L. Joyce County Office Building at 112 State Street in Albany.
