First Annual Fall Festival

October 14 marked Albany County's first annual Fall Festival at the lake. Family fun abounded on this beautiful autumn day with pumpkin decorating, a bouncy-bounce and other entertaining activities!  Learn more »

Boys & Girls Club Hikers Enjoy the Loop Trail

The children from the Boys and Girls Club enjoyed hiking the entire Loop Trail at Lawson Lake this week. Informational signs posted along the trail were designed by Ethan Goldmeer, as part of working towards his Eagle Scout badge.  Learn more »

Boys & Girls Club Members Learn about Computers

Specialists from Albany County are providing three days of technology demonstrations during the month of August. Technicians teach the kids about computer components and the importance of cyber security. Learn more »

Fishing Clinic

What a fun day for the young and young at heart at the Free Fishing Clinic at Lawson Lake County Park! The public event featured NYSDEC Fishing Educators who provided all fishing equipment, including bait and topnotch fishing education and instruction. Learn more »

Heldeberg Workshop Canoe & Kayaking Camp

The popular canoeing & kayaking camp run by the Heldeberg Workshop has begun again this year. Children practiced keeping their balance in canoes and kayaks, then also had fun intentionally capsizing themselves so they could learn self-rescuing skills. Learn more »

Arm-of-the-Sea Theater

On July 13, Lawson Lake welcomed back Arm-of-the-Sea Theater. This year’s production was "The Rejuvenary River Circus." Many youngsters enjoyed a free performance of a show that harnesses the power of mask and puppets to provoke interest and imagination. Learn more »

First Statewide Animal Water Rescue Training in New York Held at Lawson Lake

On June 3 and 4, the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets’ Animal Industry Division and the ASPCA trained participants representing seven regions across the state out on the waters of Lawson Lake. Learn more »
