William E. O’Brien Sr., US Army


William E. O’Brien Sr. was born in Albany, NY on August 22, 1923. He served as a Sargent in the United States Army in Europe during World War II and participating in the D-Day invasion in Normandy.

William received numerous awards including an American service medal, a Bronze Star medal, a European-African-Middle Eastern –Service Medal, and a Good Conduct Medal.

After his service, William served the Albany Police Department for 32 years. He is survived by his three children, William, Kathleen, and John.


Joseph Burgess, US Army


Joseph was born January 1st, 1950 in Brooklyn, New York, and served as a Private First Class in the United States Army.

In 1967, Joseph joined the US Army and Served in Vietnam. He received numerous medals including a Vietnam Service Medal with Device, a Combat Infantry Badge and a Parachute Badge. 

Following his service, Joseph served at the Department for Environmental Conservation as the Coordinator for the Capital District Campership Diversity Program. Joseph also founded Youth Ed-Venture and Nature Network to show inner city youth the wonders of nature in the Adirondack Mountains. 

He was honored as a Hidden Hero by the Andrew Goodman Foundation.


Daniel J. Flanagan, US Marine Corps


Daniel J. Flanagan was born May 4, 1930 in Woodside, New York, and served as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps.

Daniel received the Presidential Citation for Military Service, as well as a Good Conduct Medal.

Following his service, Daniel served as a Coach for Pop Warner football, as well as Little League baseball. Daniel also served as a cameraman for the Hudson Valley Community College football team.

He is survived by his wife Joyce M. Flanagan, his sons Michael, Daniel Jr., And Gregory and his daughters, Tracy Flanagan and Kathleen Engel.


Herbert Earl Tedford, Jr., US Navy


Herbert E. Tedford was born on June 25, 1932 in Troy, New York, and served as a Third Class Petty Officer in the United Stated Navy.

Herbert was a decorated Sailor, receiving numerous medals including the Good Conduct Medal and the Navy Occupation Service Medal. 

Following his service, Herbert continued his passion for Printing at Hamilton Printing Co., and worked for Argus Greenwood, Inc. until their closing in 1980. Herbert later worked for the Picotte Companies until retirement at 76. 

He is survived by his wife, Loretta, his son Herbert E. Tedford III and his daughter Deborah A. Tedford-McNeil.


John P. Gebhardt, US Coast Guard


John P. Gebhardt was born on July 28, 1926 in Albany, New York. He was a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy and went on to attend the former Cathedral Academy.

In 1944, John joined the US Coast Guard where he served for three years during World War II as a Third class Seaman on the USS Monticello, which he received a battle star for its service during the war.

When he returned, John worked for the Albany Police Department and owned and operated several taxi companies included Red & White Co. at the Amtrak Railroad for thirty years.

John is survived by his beloved wife Sherilyn of 48 years and many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.


Joseph N. Bevins, US Army


Joseph N. Bevins was born April 30, 1928 in Troy, NY.

In 1952, Joseph joined the US Army where he served for two years during the Korean War as a corporal in the Third Infantry Division. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, Merit Unit Commendation, United Nations Service Medal, and National Defense Service Medal.

Following his service, Joseph worked for the Saint James Church and School for thirty-five years and umpired Little League baseball and softball games at Whitehall Little League.

Joseph is survived by his beloved wife Joan, his two children, Joseph and Michelle, his granddaughter, Antoinette, as well as his brothers and sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews.

Helen M. Brockley, US Army


Helen M. Brockley was born on May 12, 1923 in Albany, NY.

In 1945, Helen joined the US Army Nurse Corps commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. She was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and the American Legion U.S. Army Active Duty Women Veteran of the Year award in 2003.

Following her service, Helen volunteered helping veterans at the Stratton VA Hospital for over 1,500 hours. She remained active with the American Legion Auxiliary, serving as president of the Nathaniel Adams Blanchard Post 1040.

Helen was married to her late husband, James, for 37 years and has eight children, fourteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.


John F. Procek, US Army


John F. Probeck, Jr. was born on May 24, 1933 in Troy, New York.

In 1953, John entered the United States Army with the 76th Antiaircraft Artillery Battalion and served his county for two years.

Following his service, John worked as a draftsman for 35 years for Tek Hughes before retiring in 1997. He was a Life member of the Maplewood School Parent Teacher Association and former president.

John is Survived by his loving wife Joyce, his two children Terri and John, and grandchildren Benjamin, Maya, and Everett.
